Furmom Ei Mei Chiu Saves Dogs From Burning Building During Fire in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City

Ei Mei Chiu has been identified as the furmom who bravely rescued her dogs from a burning building during a fire outbreak in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City. Her quick actions and refusal to leave her pets behind have drawn praise from residents and animal lovers across the community.

According to initial information, Chiu rushed back into the building as flames spread, determined to save her dogs trapped inside. Despite the danger, she successfully brought them out to safety. Images of the aftermath and accounts from witnesses have circulated online, commending her courage and love for her pets.

While the community continues to talk about Chiu’s heroic act, nearby Lapu-Lapu City is facing its own challenges regarding public assistance programs. Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cindi King-Chan expressed her desire to replicate Mandaue City’s Noche Buena gift pack distribution but confirmed that the city currently lacks the budget to implement the initiative this year.

Chan said she hoped to provide food packs to all households in Lapu-Lapu City, taking inspiration from Mandaue’s “Gugma sa Pasko” program. However, the project was not included in their existing budget plan.

“I would really like to give food packs, but it’s not included in our current budget. I want it as well. Hopefully, we can work on it next year,” Chan said, adding that the city must consider available funds carefully to avoid issues with the Commission on Audit.

Mandaue City, meanwhile, will distribute 10-item Noche Buena gift packs valued at P600 each. The packs include fruit cocktail, cream, spaghetti noodles and sauce, Chinese luncheon meat, carne norte, sausage, beef loaf, pork and beans, and cheese.
