Girls Accuse Renaissance Assistant Principal Joseph Kyle Hunter of Sexual Misconduct

Joseph Kyle Hunter, assistant principal at Renaissance High School and former teacher at Cass Technical High School, is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct from former students, according to reports and social media posts.

Journalists and social media users say that over 18 young women have come forward, sharing experiences of alleged sexual harassment or assault during their time as students or student aides under Hunter. The accusations span several years, with claims referring to inappropriate behavior while students were under his supervision.

Some former students have shared their accounts online:

• MaJor Warren stated that she noticed “something off” during Hunter’s tenure at Cass Tech, describing what she perceived as objectifying behavior and inappropriate comments toward female students.

• Antonia George, who was a student aide from 2013 to 2017, claimed Hunter exhibited grooming behaviors and attempted to manipulate students with money and travel offers.

• Lisa, another former student, shared that she experienced inappropriate conduct when she was 15 while Hunter was tutoring her in math, and expressed concern that there may be other victims.

The allegations have prompted widespread discussion online, with former students urging others to come forward. No official statement from the school or law enforcement has been released regarding any investigation into Hunter’s conduct at this time.
