An alleged assault involving a male student at Yabe Junior High School in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, has drawn widespread concern after reports surfaced identifying Kuria Tatsuki as the individual involved.
According to available information, the victim — a middle school student — intervened after learning that a younger student was being extorted for money. Instead of resolving the situation, the student was reportedly surrounded by 20 to 30 individuals and subjected to a violent assault involving repeated punching and kicking.
The attackers are said to have targeted the victim’s head repeatedly. As a result, the student suffered severe bruising across the body and significant facial swelling, requiring emergency medical transport. The victim was hospitalized for two days due to the seriousness of the injuries.
The victim’s mother described her emotional state following the incident by saying she felt “beyond anger — completely numb,” underscoring the gravity of the situation.Witness accounts indicate that several people at the scene recorded the assault on their phones, yet no one attempted to intervene or stop the violence. Reports also suggest that voices shouting “die” could be heard during the attack, raising further alarm.
Legal experts and members of the public have noted that the incident appears to go far beyond bullying. Many have argued that the actions described could constitute criminal assault and, depending on the findings of authorities, may rise to the level of attempted murder under Japanese law.
As of now, no official statement has been released by local police, the school, or the board of education. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including identifying all individuals involved and determining potential criminal liability.
