A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with premeditated murder after a woman was found dead in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood, authorities said.
According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, officers responded shortly before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Northwest 15th Avenue, where they discovered the body of 30-year-old Daneshia Heller.
During the investigation, detectives located Altavious Powell and initially arrested him on unrelated charges. As the case developed, investigators identified him as the primary homicide suspect, and he was formally charged in connection with Heller’s death.
Police have not yet released details about a possible motive or the circumstances surrounding the killing. The investigation remains ongoing.
