Abigail Woods and Sierra Jackson Killed in Head-On Crash in Tuscaloosa County; Multiple Others Injured

Tuscaloosa County, Alabama — Two young women were killed and several others injured in a multi-vehicle head-on crash early Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. on March 21 along U.S. Highway 43 near the 207-mile marker, about 11 miles north of Tuscaloosa.

Investigators said a 2013 Ford Focus, driven by 20-year-old Abigail G. Woods of Brookwood, collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 17-year-old from Northport.

Woods was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.

A passenger in the Ford Focus, 19-year-old Sierra N. Jackson of Cottondale, also suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Two additional passengers in the Ford Focus — Terry A. Waggoner, 19, and Christopher L. Tucker Jr., 19, both of Cottondale — were also injured in the crash and taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for medical care.

Authorities said debris from the initial collision struck a third vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Tacoma driven by 36-year-old Thomas B. Heath Jr. of Northport. No further details have been released regarding possible injuries from that vehicle.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
