Terrence Cramer, a veteran firefighter with the Bridgeport Fire Department, was fatally shot early Saturday morning in what authorities are investigating as a homicide in Stratford, Connecticut.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 1:44 a.m. on Feeley Street, at a residence within a side-by-side duplex. Upon arrival, officers found Cramer, 41, suffering from a severe gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived at the scene.
Cramer, who had served nearly 10 years with the Bridgeport Fire Department, is being remembered as a dedicated public servant and valued member of the community.
Authorities have arrested 41-year-old Jabari Bush of West Haven in connection with the fatal shooting. According to the Stratford Police Department, Bush was taken into custody in Derby later that day following a brief vehicle pursuit.
Bush has been charged with murder, home invasion, and criminal possession of a firearm. He is currently being held on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.Investigators believe the shooting may be linked to a domestic-related dispute involving the alleged ex-partner of Cramer’s girlfriend, though officials have not released full details about the circumstances leading up to the incident.
A second individual, a woman who was present at the scene, later sought medical evaluation. Her condition has not been publicly disclosed.
The Stratford Police Department confirmed that multiple agencies assisted in the investigation and arrest, including the New Haven, Derby, Seymour, and Shelton Police Departments, as well as Connecticut State Police.
