Warren County Man Kills Wife and Daughter in Greenwood Drive Murder-Suicide, Sheriff Says

A tragic murder-suicide in Warren County claimed the lives of three people, including an 8-year-old girl, authorities confirmed Sunday afternoon.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy responded to a welfare check at a residence on Greenwood Drive near McMinnville around 2:10 p.m. on March 8, 2026. Upon entry, officers found Joseph Nicholas Shelton Jr., his wife Randi Jean Shelton, and their elementary school-age daughter deceased inside the home.

Preliminary Investigation Findings

According to law enforcement, preliminary findings indicate that Joseph Shelton Jr. shot and killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life. Sheriff Jackie Matheny described the incident as domestic-related and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case, which remains under review.
