Darrell Sheets, ‘Storage Wars’ Star, Dead at 67 After Alleged Cyberbullying; Reality TV Figure Had Accused Jim and Allison Thacker of Stalking Before Death

Darrell Sheets, best known for his long-running role on Storage Wars, has died at the age of 67, with police now investigating claims he had been tormented by cyberbullying prior to his death.

Authorities in Lake Havasu City said Sheets was found dead at his home on Wednesday, April 22, from what has been described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Lake Havasu City Police Department confirmed that its criminal investigations unit responded to the scene and that the case remains under investigation.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Sheets had taken to social media to claim he was the target of persistent online harassment and stalking. In multiple Facebook posts, he alleged that individuals were impersonating him, damaging his reputation, and targeting local businesses using his name.

“Well people here is my cyber bully stalker,” Sheets wrote in a March 11 post, warning followers about what he described as ongoing harassment.

In other posts, Sheets claimed he had been hacked and said the situation had escalated to the point where people were showing up at his workplace believing false information. He expressed fear for his safety and wrote that if anything were to happen to him, certain individuals should be held responsible. Those claims have not been independently verified by authorities.

Following news of his death, former co-star Rene Nezhoda spoke out, alleging that Sheets had been deeply affected by online harassment.

“He had a guy really tormenting him lately on cyber-bullying,” Nezhoda said in a video statement. “Just because you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us… it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody.”

Nezhoda urged viewers to be more mindful of their actions online, emphasizing that people often face personal struggles that are not visible to the public.

Sheets, who appeared in more than 160 episodes of Storage Wars between 2010 and 2023, was a fan favorite known for his bold bidding style, earning him the nickname “The Gambler.”

In one of his final known Facebook photos, Sheets was seen walking his dog — a rare glimpse into his personal life, as he was not frequently active on social media. The image is believed to be among the last public photos of him before his death.

Police have not confirmed any direct connection between the alleged cyberbullying and Sheets’ death.

After his television career, Sheets retired to Arizona, where he operated a local antique business, Havasu Show Me Your Junk, and remained a recognizable figure in the community.

Authorities said Sheets’ family has been notified, and his body has been transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination as the investigation continues.
