Jennifer Hanson Dismissed From Job After Harassing Neighbor’s Son Over Trash at Raleigh Apartment Complex

A North Carolina mother is speaking out after what she describes as a years-long pattern of harassment by a neighbor—an ordeal she says ultimately forced her family to leave their home.

Tashauna, a resident of Raleigh, told The North Carolina Beat that a recent confrontation involving her 19-year-old son was the final incident in an ongoing dispute with a neighbor, identified as 39-year-old Jennifer Hanson.

The confrontation, which was captured on video, reportedly took place on Monday, March 23, at the Falls River Condominiums. According to Tashauna, her son was attempting to throw away household trash as the family prepared to move out when Hanson allegedly intervened.

In the video, Hanson is seen confronting the teen near a dumpster, questioning what he was disposing of and, at one point, appearing to block his access. She can also be heard insisting that the items were not “trash” and should be taken elsewhere. Despite the tense situation, Tashauna said her son remained relatively calm throughout the encounter.

Tashauna claims the incident was not isolated but rather part of a broader pattern of behavior that began after her family moved into the predominantly white apartment community in 2020 following their relocation from Greenville.

“What started off as light racism gradually escalated,” she said. “You can tell when you’re being targeted, but it wasn’t this bad until she moved across from us.”

According to Tashauna, Hanson lived directly across the hall from her family for approximately two years, leading to frequent and unavoidable encounters. “If you walked out of my place, she was right there,” she said. “We ended up moving—she pretty much forced us out.”

Tashauna alleges that Hanson repeatedly harassed her family, including leaving cigarette butts on her car despite her not being a smoker and confronting her children when she was not home. During one incident while Tashauna was out of town in Atlanta, she claims Hanson attempted to provoke her son.

“I told my son, if she keeps doing this, start recording her,” Tashauna said. “Because I don’t understand why she’s so focused on us.”

That decision ultimately led to the now-circulating video, which Tashauna says documents the type of behavior her family endured over time.

Following the incident, Hanson was reportedly dismissed from her job, though additional details about her employment or the circumstances surrounding her termination have not been publicly confirmed.
