Jonathan Terrell McFarland, 45, Found Dead After Going Missing Following I-10 Crash in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana

A missing person investigation in St. Charles Parish has ended in tragedy after a 45-year-old man was found dead following a multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 10.

Jonathan Terrell McFarland, of Collinston, was reported missing after he walked away from the scene of a crash around 1:30 a.m. on April 19, 2026, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile marker 220 and was investigated by Louisiana State Police, who responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision in the early morning hours.

During the investigation, authorities determined that McFarland had been involved in the crash but left the scene on foot under unclear circumstances.

Deputies and detectives launched a coordinated search effort, checking locations tied to McFarland, including his hotel and the residence of a friend he had planned to visit in New Orleans. He had been in the area for work at the time of the incident.

Despite initial efforts, McFarland could not be located.

The following morning, detectives, along with members of the Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, discovered his body in a swampy area near the I-10/I-310 split, approximately a quarter mile from the original crash site.

His remains were transported to the Jefferson Parish Forensic Center, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death.

Authorities have not released additional details, and the circumstances surrounding McFarland’s death remain under active investigation.
