A 14-year-old boy, Najier Allen, has been charged with assault following a violent attack on a 15-year-old girl in East Harlem, New York City — an incident that has sparked widespread outrage and conflicting accounts from both families.
According to police and circulating video footage, the incident unfolded after school when Allen allegedly approached the girl and became aggressive as she attempted to walk away. Authorities say he grabbed her from behind, slammed her onto the sidewalk, and repeatedly stomped on her head before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for injuries including a concussion. She was reported to be in stable condition, though her mother later said the attack was severe and could have had fatal consequences. The victim is now facing an ongoing recovery, both physically and emotionally.
Allen was later taken into custody after police responded to a 911 call. The case remains under active investigation.
In the aftermath, Allen’s mother, Selma Sealema, publicly defended her son, offering a different version of events. Speaking after his court appearance, she claimed her son had been the target of bullying by the girl prior to the incident.
“She was being a bully to him, that’s it,” Sealema said, adding that her son had repeatedly complained about the situation at school. She alleged that attempts to raise the issue with school officials went unaddressed.
“The way my son is being bullied, he doesn’t want to go to school,” she said.
Sealema also rejected claims that her son had approached the girl with romantic intentions, stating that the two were already acquaintances who communicated through Instagram and WhatsApp. She described her son as a “quiet” and “humble Christian” who “doesn’t provoke anybody.”
According to her account, the altercation escalated after the girl allegedly pushed her son moments before the video began circulating online. “It’s retaliation because she pushed him first,” she claimed, though she has not publicly provided additional footage to support that assertion.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has strongly disputed that narrative, emphasizing the severity of the attack and raising concerns about how widely the video has been shared across social media platforms.
Authorities have not confirmed any prior incidents between the two teens and have yet to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the assault.
