FAIRFIELD, CA — An 18-year-old high school graduate was killed and three others were wounded Wednesday evening after gunfire erupted during a graduation ceremony at a shared campus stadium.

The Fairfield Police Department identified the deceased victim as Jamario Baker, who had just celebrated graduating from Sem Yeto Continuation High School.

The tragic incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in a parking lot at the campus shared by Sem Yeto and Fairfield High School. Roughly 1,000 students, families, and community members were attending the graduation ceremony at Schaefer Stadium when the shooting broke out.

Baker lost his life in the attack, while three other victims—ages 11, 20, and 25—sustained gunshot wounds. Authorities have not yet released the identities or current conditions of the surviving victims.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and a motive for the shooting remains unclear. The Fairfield Police Department’s investigation is highly active.

"Detectives are working diligently to follow all available leads and are committed to bringing those responsible for this senseless act of violence to justice," police officials stated.

In the wake of the tragedy, the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District announced that Friday night's upcoming Fairfield High School graduation would be relocated to an alternative campus "out of respect for the community." District officials emphasized that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are making an urgent appeal to the public for assistance. Anyone with information, video footage, or tips regarding the shooting is strongly encouraged to immediately contact the Fairfield Police Department.
